Prinz Pi Königin von Kreuzberg (2011)

Ubin’s story is one of unexpected turns. Moving to Frankfurt for love, she left behind the familiar streets of Berlin and ended up discovering a city full of surprises. What began as a leap of faith turned into something deeper: a real connection to a place she now calls home.

Ubin wears many creative hats. She's a freelance writer for ZEITmagazin and the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung (FAZ), where she writes the much-loved “Hi, Baby!” column—an honest, funny, and thoughtful look at motherhood and family life. She also co-hosts the podcast Und was machst du am Wochenende? (“And what do you do on the weekend?”) with Christoph Amend, Editorial Director of Die Zeit. Together, they chat with guests about everything from lazy Sundays to life’s big questions—one weekend at a time.

When she’s not writing or podcasting, Ubin’s in the classroom at the Hochschule für Gestaltung Offenbach, teaching young creatives to explore their own voices.
At her core, Ubin is a storyteller—drawn to the everyday moments that reveal something deeper, whether it’s the chaos of parenting, overlooked daily rituals, or the quiet ways the personal intersects with the political.
When we asked Ubin for a track for The Rest, she sent us a song that gives her power, “although it’s a bit cringe” (her words). It’s an ode to all the queens of Kreuzberg who are fearless and glamorously rebellious. It’s a very personal choice: She used to listen to it whenever she needed a self-esteem push—before dates, before meetings with her bosses, or when she had a bad day. To this day, whenever it appears in her playlist, she misses her old hood, that “lovely shithole called Kreuzberg”. 👸
