GRENZKONTROLLE REVOLUTION (2025)
Punk is back. In a world marked by unrest, inequality and disillusionment, its rebellious spirit feels more relevant than ever—offering young people a raw, authentic outlet for their frustration. In Germany, some are even calling it a new Neue Deutsche Welle.
While punk in the late ’70s and early ’80s, both in Germany and beyond, was largely dominated by white, middle-class men, today’s scene is far more diverse. A prime example is the Cologne-based band GRENZKONTROLLE, whose lineup brings together people of different genders and races.
Though the band represents a new generation of punk, their sound stays true to its roots. Our song of the day, “REVOLUTION” may not be a musical revolution, but it’s a fierce antidote to today’s overproduced pop—driven by sharp lyrics that hit out at capitalism and fascism. It doesn’t break the mold, but it reminds us why the mold mattered in the first place.
