A Bittersweet Post-Dubstep Update

A Bittersweet Post-Dubstep Update

FaltyDL Don't Go (2025)

Evolving from the original dubstep sound, post-dubstep is a loosely defined subgenre of electronic music that emerged in the UK in the late 2000s. While dubstep is known for its heavy sub-bass, syncopated rhythms and dark atmosphere, post-dubstep takes a more experimental, melodic and eclectic approach, often blending elements of ambient, R’n’B, UK garage, house and hip-hop.

London, with influential platforms like Rinse FM and labels such as Hyperdub and Hessle Audio, was at the heart of this scene. However, producers around the world contributed to the sound, among them Brooklyn-based producer Drew Lustman, better known as FaltyDL, who began releasing music in 2008 and continues to push musical boundaries to this day. He recently announced his latest album, Neurotica, with “Don’t Go” as its lead single. The fast-paced, sample-heavy track has a melancholic yet uplifting vibe—and it's our song of the day.
