Dean Blunt & Inga Copeland The Narcissist (2012)
The list of collaborators of UK-born artist Roy Nnawuchi aka Dean Blunt is impressive. Most prominently he collaborated with US trap star A$AP Rocky. On the one hand, the rapper was featured on several of Blunt’s releases; on the other, he invited Blunt to produce two songs for his 2018 album Testing and to provide additional lyrics on a third one. Other Blunt collaborators include Swedish cloud rap star Yung Lean, Animal Collective frontman Panda Bear, experimental folk singer Joanne Robertson and Estonian artist Alina Astrova aka Inga Copeland. With the latter Blunt formed the enigmatic avant-garde duo Hype Williams—named after the American music video director—which quickly gathered a cult following. Word on the street is that Copeland and Blunt also used to be lovers. Apparently they broke up in the early 2010s and also terminated Hype Williams (only to release another album in 2017). Around the time of their alleged breakup Blunt’s first solo-efforts appeared, including a cryptic ballad called “The Narcissist”—which features his supposed ex Inga Copeland.
