“Will I Ever Be Enough?”

“Will I Ever Be Enough?”

Acopia Be Enough (2023)

We all know that social media is bad for us, especially for young people. Research on this relationship continues to emerge, yet little has been done to regulate the platforms. A recent study involving 500 adolescents found a significant inverse relationship between daily social media usage and self-esteem—alarming, to say the least.

So, is anyone surprised when Kate Durman, singer of the Australian dreampop outfit Acopia, whispers the following lines on “Be Enough” from their debut album?

I had to crunch the numbers

Cos it's not adding up

I keep filling up my cup

And I'm still feeling empty

Maybe I'm unhealthy

Will I ever be enough?

Oh, in case you’re wondering, “Acopia” is an informal (and somewhat controversial) medical term, used to describe patients who are unable to cope with daily life.
