Time Doesn’t Fly—but Never Mind

Time Doesn’t Fly—but Never Mind

a.s.o. Go On (2023)

“Time flies with or without destination,” Alia Seror-O'Neill sings in the wonderfully spaced-out trip-hop jam “Go On”, from a.s.o.’s self-titled 2023 album. As convincing as this debut from the duo of Seror-O'Neill and Lewie Day (aka Tornado Wallace) may be, her claim is simply wrong.

From a physics point of view, time isn’t a substance or an object that moves (or flies, for that matter). According to Einstein’s theory of relativity, time is part of the four-dimensional fabric of spacetime. And time doesn’t move through the universe; we move through time.

But hey—that’s just a tiny little detail. You’ll enjoy the song nonetheless. Promise.
