2Pac No More Pain (1996)
There are legitimate reasons for hiring a ghostwriter—a professional wordsmith who authors articles, books, speeches etc. for other people. For one, the person who is supposed to write a text might not be much of a writer in the first place because their job is to set world records, run global companies, rule a country or simply to be famous. Many celebrities’, politicians’, CEOs’ and sports stars’ memoirs are written by someone other than themselves—for example by Liam Pieper. Writing best-selling books in the name of others has generated awkward situations, as Pieper recently revealed. For example, his therapist suggested a book he should read. A book full of kindness and wisdom. A book Piper had actually written himself… The concept of ghostwriting is also known outside the literary world—for example in music. Every once in a while a song pops up that just doesn’t make sense in an artist’s discography. A song that is too special, too extraordinary, too alien. 2Pac’s “No More Pain” is one of those songs. The fresh and somewhat insane drums do not just make it stick out on his classic 1996 album All Eyes on Me, but in his catalog altogether. Throughout the years more and more rumors spread: “It’s a young Timbaland,” someone claimed at one point… Could that possibly be the truth? Timbaland wasn’t really known at the time the album was produced and there is no record of the two artists having crossed paths. In 2011, Timbaland finally explained himself, kind of: “‘no more pain’ all eyez on me - 2pac when the world got a taste of my vicious drum patterns back then.”
